Why quarterbacks stomp their feet.

If you have ever watched an American football game, you would notice that the quarterback will stomp his foot before the snap. Usually the quarterback would yell out "hut" which means to snap the ball. But sometimes the crowd is very loud and the snapper can't hear the quarterback so he will stomp his foot to indicate a "silent count". It is like a hand signal.

It could also be a signal for one the quarterbacks teammates to motion. Which means to move somewhere else.
