Why Detroit is so bad.
If you have ever been to Detroit, you would see a lot burned buildings and damages around the city. This was because of the 1967 riots in Detroit. Many factory workers were making decent money in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Those white workers would soon move out of the city and into Detroit's suburbs. So there were mostly poor African Americans living in the Detroit city.
A lot more rich white people were leaving Detroit and a lot of the businesses left also. That meant less tax dollars for Detroit because there wasn't a lot of rich people to spend money or businesses to collect tax dollars from. The city can barely afford to pay its police and firefighters because they don't have enough money.
